today i got a call saying that i could not see another oncologist here, and that i could either see dr. robinson or get referred to mayo. what a mess. i had kind of gotten used to the idea that i was going to see a different doc here and wouldn't have to go to mayo yet. and now.... now we're back to square one. what to do, what to do? do i give dr. robinson one more chance and hope that now he knows that i am upset he acts differently? (only yesterday he told me i had misunderstood the director) or do i instead drive 9 hours and see mayo, but not for a while as they may not be able to fit me in immediately?
i hate this.
Hey Rita, I just got a chance to read all your blog entries. If it were me, I would let Dr. Robinson know exactly how I feel. One would think that an oncologist would have better communication skills. Good luck with the doctor problems. ~Brigitte
ReplyDeleteI have to second what Brigitte wrote. You'd think he'd have a better bedside manner, especially if he chose to be an oncologist. But I honestly think, given that there are two hematologists on staff, that he's the "tumor guy."
ReplyDeleteGive him another chance if you feel it's warranted, but also let him know up front why you talked to the director and what he does that upsets you. You're going to have a relationship beyond customer-provider with whatever doctor you end up with, and he needs to understand that.
If he doesn't, unleash the Babbitt. Then go to Mayo.

Pray on it. And listen for discernment.
